Gao Yuan-Yuan in Milan for Fashion Week

Gao Yuan-Yuan lit up the Gucci Fall/Winter 2012 show at Milan Fashion Week.

Striking a pose outside the show.

Casually elegant and perfectly gorgeous inside while waiting for things to start.

Possibly working on her Victoria Beckham pout/scowl/sneer?

Thinking "this fashion stuff is hard work--I'm glad that is over".

Zhou Xun in Bazaar

Every month scores of fashion magazines around the world publish thousands of images of beautiful women; they are shot by top photographers, touched up by skilled photoshop operators and pored over by editors. The result is almost always just another ho-hum fashion spread that is flipped through. Occasionally the right photographer, subject and mood are serendipitously combined such as in these pictures of Zhou Xun in the March "Harper's Bazaar".

Poster and stills for "The Second Woman" with Shu Qi

"The Second Woman", a Mainland romantic thriller in which Shu Qi plays sisters with very different personalities, opens on March 8. Shawn Yue is the third person in a love triangle with the sisters which probably turns out to be less delightful than it sounds.

Vote for your favorite 10 or 20 Hong Kong movies from the 1980s

LoveHKFilm is running a reader poll on the top Hong Kong movies of the 1980s which was an extremely productive ten years for the industry in the then Crown Colony. Kozo explains it here; it will part of putting together a list of readers' favorite 100 HK movies of all time.

I think the only difficult or frustrating part of it will be deciding the last movie on one's list--what movie makes the cut and what movie does it shunt aside?

Should be fun. I'm revising my list--there are a lot to chose from.

Mavis Fan punked out, Kwai Lun-Mei elegant for Berlin red carpet

Nothing bothers Tsui Hark, not even encountering a possibly unexpected set of spikes. He does keep his hand at a safe distance on the red carpet for the premier of "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate".

Mavis Fan and Kwai Lun-Mei were a study in contrasts but both of them looked great.

Mavis's fans seemed appropriately hyped:
(the spiked back on that gown seems impractical for sitting through the premier)

while things were enthusiastic if a bit less frantic for Kwai Lun-Mei.

Zimbio continued to lead the way in quality control, this time identifying Mavis Fan as Zhou Xun. Such as in this picture and caption:
