Fan Bingbing dropped in at a couple of Academy Award events Sunday evening with a bet less fanfare than during her annual conquests of the Cannes Film Festival. First the red carpet in a very pink ball gown:
Hair and make-up was almost too flawless--even with the skilled and experienced make-up technicians available for the biggest American movie bash, it must have taken some time to assemble all the parts for this look:
A bit later it was off to the after-Oscar party given by The Weinstein Company, on of those gala functions that aren't really important unless you aren't invited. But she was (one assumes--FBB didn't have the air of a gate crasher) having changed into something a bit more practical:
The comments from "netizens", as rendered in Googlespeak by automatic translation seemed more grumpy and grouchy than the not unusual run of mean spirited trashing, complaining that Fan Bingbing doesn't have a movie out so why was she there and that her left arm is fat (odd).
Nothing to whine about with Lin Peng--she has had a busy couple of years with six films released in various parts of the world in 2011 and 2012. Her appearance was described in the running translation as "a big show of hot body wearing a black thoracotomy dress,"a description I couldn't improve on if I tried for a year.

Maggie Cheung, Zhou Xun, Angelababy, many others at non-events in Beijing
The U.S. edition of Vogue celebrated the 120th anniversary of its first publication by having a big bash in Beijing. Since the date they were commemorating was pretty meaningless (begging the question regarding Vogue itself) the gang didn't have much to do other than stand around looking good and pretending to talk to one another while holding wineglasses.
Since we aren't opposed to that kind of thing, here area a few images.
Maggie Cheung in fur and couture:
The couture is from the Vogue party, fur from the next evening at something with photog Mario Testino's name on it.
Carina Lau and Angelababy from different parts if not opposite poles of the artistic spectrum went with black and white:
The cool girls cliques--Zhou Xun with Sun Li and Li Bingbing with Ni Ni, each making a point of not making a point of ignoring each other, or so the dreadful machine translations of the dreadful Chinese entertainment press seemed to say:
Sun Li in a super-fitted slacks and blazer and killer Christian Louboutin heels:
Ni Ni was in a fussy but somehow elegant mess of tulle, satin and applique:
Li Bingbing:
Zhou Xun:
Lin Peng broke the run of black, white and navy blue with a splashy embroidered D&G mini-dress:
Jason Wu's glamorous +1 was Carolyn Murphy:

The gang heads to the Jean Paul Gaultier show
Paris Fashion Week is drawing to a close; one of the last shows was the high profile Jean Paul Gaultier runway extravaganza. Some of the usual suspects dropped in.
Angelababy flanked by JPM and the least impressed assistant in the world.
This is not as daring an outfit as it seemed on first glance; it is lace patterns over some not very transparent (or "clairvoyant" in machine translation from Chinese to English) material. Nice look for someone who is young, slim and pretty.
Huo Siyan looked great in a striped blouse with an asymmetrical collar and sleeves made to be rolled up. Her hair and make-up were perfect as was the case in all of her appearances in Paris.
Lin Peng took a bit of a chance and succeeded only because she didn't crash and burn, with a dress much like the one made famous by Marilyn Monroe in "The Seven Year Itch", a costume featured in one of the most famous and iconic scenes in American movies.
The dress on Marilyn:
The dress wasn't a copy since it had bat-wing sleeves with cutouts and a mega belt but referred to and recalled the earlier outfit. Since Lin Peng stayed away from subway gratings it worked:

Christian Dior was the place to be
The star(lets) were out at the Christian Dior show at Paris Fashion Week.
Angelababy was in feathers and leather:
Kitty Zhang Yuqi went with lace and fur plus some toe-scrunching open toed pumps:
Kitty Zhang with Dior head designer in waiting, collar-popping Raf Simons:
Lin Peng strikes a few poses in a retro-ish geometric print:
With Dior CEO Sidney Toledano:
Lin Peng and Angelababy wait for the show to start.

Lin Peng lights up the Cannes red carpet
Lin Peng also graced the red carpet for the Cannes opening of "Robin Hood".
Seeing someone she knows, other hand still firmly on her hip:

Whichever company supplied her accessories got themsleves a lovely setting for the earrings, necklace and ring:
Facing the camera firing squad:
Lin Peng has a perfect heart-shaped face:
