Shu Qi heats up "Harpers"; Michelle Reis draws a crowd for a store opening

Two of our favorites popped up recently. Shu Qi remains effortlessly sensuous (although the shot of her sucking on a strawberry might be a bit over the top) while Michelle is as cool, elegant and beautiful as ever. Not much more to say about these two.

Li Bingbing was in Taipei for the 49th Golden Horse Awards and dropped in to help open the new Gucci flagship store while she was in town.

She watched and applauded as an imported craftsman hammered out her initials on a luggage tag...

There was also a huge, oddly colored leather bag with her monogram (Latin alphabet, of course) that looked too large to be practical for much of anything.

Meanwhile Michelle Reis was in Hong Kong doing the honors for super-luxury French jeweler Boucheron, draped in emeralds and looking flawlessly beautiful.

Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Reis for Dior

Dior CEO Sidney Toledano was supporting the brand in Shanghai and brought towering supermodel Natalia Vodianova along with actresses Zhang Ziyi and Ni Ni plus retired screen beauty Michelle Reis to help with the publicity. Vodianova has been busy divorcing billionaire sprig of nobility Justin Portman and finding comfort in the arms of another billionaire (or at least the heir to billions) Antoine Arnault, son of Bernard Arnault the extremely wealthy and very powerful head of LVMH is the controlling shareholder of Dior. For those keeping score at home if the Arnault/Vodianova fling becomes a marriage she will be the niece of Salma Hayek something that would make big family gatherings pretty cool.

Zhang Ziyi looked elegantly perfect or perfectly elegant in a redder than red Dior gown with a strikingly embroidered neckline.

Michelle Reis stole the spotlight simply by showing up--she stands out even in a world of beautiful actress and models.

Ni Ni took the sultry and sexy road in a short knit dress and great makeup, particularly her eyes.

Michelle and the giant eclair

Michelle Reis put on her red dress (but left the high heeled sneakers at home) to raise money for something at Harbour City. In addition to meeting some of her fans she checked out the Museum of Yummy Treats, something no visit to the area should miss.

She seems to be sticking to her decision to retire from the movie business so we will have to be content with occasional public appearances.

If you ever need someone to sell furnaces in Hell or refrigerators on the North Pole...

Michelle Reis in "Madame Figaro"

"Madame Figaro" China continues the international fashion magazine practice of photographing a beautiful woman in uninspired, time worn poses, wearing whatever the big advertisers sent over for the photoshoot and then smoothing the result in Photoshop so that all texture and detail is lost leaving what looks like a mannequin of Michelle Reis. She shouldn't feel bad since that is pretty much what fashion editors all over the world have been doing. Even with her skin plasticized Michelle Reis remains drop dead gorgeous.

The "French Lieutenant's Woman" look works, particularly when the subject possesses drop-dead beauty.

Michelle Reis pushes leather goods; Zhang Ziyi gets an award

I haven't been able to figure out which expensive handbag company Michelle Reis is now the brand ambassador for because the coverage in both Ifeng and CRI combined the worst of Page Six bitchy cattiness with the sniggering excitement of a nine-year old boy who just discovered girls. But here are never too many pictures of Michelle Reis so:

Zhang Ziyi won the award for best actress given by the 2011 First Youth Film Festival held at Qinghai University in Xining. Or perhaps they convinced her to show up by announcing she was being honored. She wore a leather jacket with lots of zippers--plenty of pockets to stow her new slab of Lucite.
