Li Bingbing at L.A. premiere of "Snowflower and the Secret Fan"

These are from Zimbio; there may be larger and better quality images from the Chinese entertainment press soon although my trawling sina/cri/ifeng/suho with the ever useful Chrome browser with instant translation (when it works, which lately has been not often) hasn't discovered them yet.

With Wayne Wang, director of "Snowflower".

Cute as a box full of puppies.

Sharing a laugh with the omnipresent Wendi Deng Murdoch and Florence Sloan, producers.

  1. I'm a big fan of Lisa See's books -- but particularly her crime novels. Wish she would add to that series -- and think they could make really good movies though, given their material, I wonder if they would be impossible to be made in China...

  2. I really like her crime fiction as well. See has a terrific character in Liu Hulan, although I read "Flower Net" only a couple of years ago and then picked up "Dragon Bones" right afterward.

Qiu Xiaolong writes terrific mysteries set in the 1990s, mainly in Shanghai. His books manage to be both sentimental and hard edged although not at the same time.

  3. Hi again ewaffle --

I like Qiu Xialong's crime novels too! They make me want to visit Shanghai some time... :)
