Jiang Yiyan in cheongsam.

Jiang Yiyan in one of the ubiquitous "photo shoots" that pop up in the Chinese celebrity press--and which often wind up here. More qipao/cheongsam goodness with a bonus of a blazing red, intricately embroidered wedding dress. Proof (as if any more is needed) that god was in a benevolent mood when he decided to create silkworms.

She has a movie coming out soon, a Chinese/German collaboration that might be based on the latest release from the Steve Jobs digital empire, I Phone You.

I think the work is really impressive--here is a detail from the wedding dress enlarged 2.5 times:

  1. Lovely photos -- and exquisite cheongsams! I'm not familiar with Jiang Yiyan, but I see that she was in A City of Life and Death. I recognize her from the screencaps at HKMDB, but I don't quite remember what character she played. Anyway, somebody to keep an eye on. :)

  2. OK... I remember her now. She played the prostitute who refused to cut her hair and was the first to volunteer as a comfort woman to save the other captives.

  3. I also had to refer to HKMDB to realize who Jiang Yiyan is but I would have posted the pictures even if no one had heard of the model simply because the great design and needle skill they show.

  5. Those are two serious dresses. I wonder how much those cost!?! Jiang Yiyan's gorgeous in them. :)

  6. Walter--Jiang Yiyan really does wear both of the garments beautifully; she was a great choice for this shoot. I don't know what they would cost but the material alone looks quite expensive.
